Virtual Appointments
Virtual appointments are usually organised on Monday and Thursday evenings, avoiding the need to miss work or other daytime commitments. They are particularly useful for patients who require frequent routine follow ups, for example female patients enrolled on the pregnancy prevention programme for isotretinoin. They also allow the discussion of results when a face to face is not needed.
It can be more challenging to assess new patients virtually and I would recommend that photographs, relevant results and pre clinic questionnaires are completed before the clinic visit for all new patients.
One of the major benefits of video consultations is the ability to consult with people far away and in the past few weeks I have had consultations with patients from Romania, Netherlands, Dundee, Northern Ireland, Yorkshire, Cardiff and Suffolk, saving many hours of travel time!
The video technology works best with the google chrome browser and you will receive an email with instructions and a second email with the actual appointment details and any link for questionnaires or photos to be submitted. It is worth having a mobile device as a back up – sometimes the video works better on smart phones or tablets or I may need to call you.
If you have trouble the audio, quit the call and rejoin or switch to a different device.
